ISS Ireland celebrates employee achievements at GEMS Awards 2022

This month, ISS Ireland celebrated some of its most valuable, dedicated, and talented staff with its 2022 Gems Awards.

Gem Awards 2023

The event, which took place at the Sheraton Athlone Hotel this May 12th, brought together over 150 ISS Ireland employees, representing Placemakers from key accounts, specialises services and support functions across Ireland. It also provided a warm welcome to our exalted guest, Leitrim senior hurley team player Zak Moradi, who was on hand to present awards to all GEM and Category winners.

Zak’s memoir, Life Begins in Leitrim, was published in 2022 and tells the remarkable story of his formative years in Iraq, leaving behind an oppressive regime and finding a new life – and phenomenal new career – in small-town Ireland. Moradi made his debut on the inter-county scene, joining the Leitrim senior team in 2010 and becoming a regular member of the starting fifteen. In his own words, Zak says he has “a Kurdish blood with an Irish heart”, speaking keenly on both his heritage and the home he has found as a migrant in Ireland.

“It was my pleasure to MC and play my part in this year GEMs awards. It was a day filled with recognition, fun, respect, inspiration and ultimately amazing people.

Our Placemakers work in demanding environments, full of challenges and ever changing conditions so going the extra mile is not easy but yet these  remarkable individuals make it look easy on a daily basis. So I would like to take this opportunity to thanks our GEMs again.

Thank you for being you, Thank you for becoming what you want and thank you for being part of something bigger!”
