ISS Ireland hosts 7th annual GEM awards

ISS Ireland (ISS) recently hosted the 7th annual GEM Awards event to recognise the tremendous work, effort and dedication of many of our frontline staff throughout the business
This year the awards took place in the Finnstown House Hotel and was attended by over 130 ISS employees, representing many of our colleagues from Key Accounts (KA), Specialised Services(SS) and support functions across the business. The GEM Award, Going the Extra Mile, recognises and awards employees who perform above and beyond what is expected of them in their normal day to day work.  Many of our employees perform their roles and activities outside core office hours.  These employees provide essential support services and without these unsung heroes many business’ operations could not function. ISS take enormous pride in the work our employees carry out to ensure that the facilities operated by our teams deliver the best possible environment for our clients’ organisations.

The GEM winners and category awards were presented by our guest Dublin Ladies Football player, All Ireland winner and All-star, Sinead Goldrick, who was impressed by the stories associated with our GEMs and delighted to attend and meet all the winners. She discussed the commitment, effort and responsibilities that are required by intercounty players and she clearly articulated the lifestyle and dedication involved whilst also coming across as a role model for females and all athletes. She also touched on the importance of participation for young girls and boys (and everyone) in sporting activities for a healthy lifestyle, wellbeing and in doing so creating long life friendships in a team environment.

“I was really impressed by the GEM awards programme and how the winners from each division were so proud and delighted to be honoured by their colleagues and am now more conscious of the amount of work behind the scenes and the breath of services provided by ISS.”

We were also joined by Barnardos CEO Fergus Finlay who spoke of his appreciation to the many ISS employees who actively contributed in one of the many fund-raising events which we undertook last year for Barnardos. Fergus shared with us where the funds go and the real value created working in the heart of disadvantaged communities, providing a range of services to children and families nationwide.
