A sense of Community

With approximately 46,700 employees in the UK and Ireland, the virtual world is an ideal way for ISS to reach it’s very large workforce
With the internet, emails, yammer, twitter etc.,  we can communicate, without driving five hours or catching the train just to talk to each other.

On the other hand, the world of ‘virtual’ can be quite impersonal. Having a chat over a coffee or discussing things as a community or a team, together, creates bonds and relationships that as humans, we need.

Stephanie Hamilton, Head of People and Culture for ISS believes “a sense of community is crucial in today’s virtual world,” as she told EP Magazine in an interview this week, whilst talking about her plans to encourage the sense of Community in ISS. “We’re working to drive a culture where employees respect each other and have a sense of belonging in ISS. After all, if we spend time, money and resources on making these Touchpoints positive employee experiences, this in its self lets people know how critical we see them and how they feel about working for us.”

At ISS we truly believe in our 'community' and we have implored our employees to talk to us, and each other, and not suffer in silence.

There have been a number of employee initiatives in the business recently; from new employee-focused policies, ISS Pledge Day to support inclusion and diversity in the workplace, celebration of International Womens Day and a new Employee Handbook due out soon, we are building a very people-focused culture to bring employees together and feel proud to work for ISS.

“We encourage everyone to contribute to the sense of community we create. If you are looking for the positive role model, person or situation, stop trying to find it and instead live it – be it, that’s when the diverse, exciting community starts.” continues Stephanie.
